The
Relief Teachers system is a secure internet based
database for schools and agencies to find relief teachers.
The core value of the system is to save schools time
and frustration by minimising the number of ‘dead
calls’ made to book relief staff. The benefit
to teachers is twofold: maximising their opportunity
to obtain work, and increased personal control over
their working lives.
The Relief Teachers system was originally designed
around the relief teacher, essentially to enhance
their work opportunities and lifestyle. We wanted
to get rid of any needless early morning calls and
give teachers the capacity to take a day off, or work
elsewhere, without having to say no to work. From
here it was clear that Relief Teachers also had to
be beneficial for schools and departments and, with
the implementation of the system, the schools have
become the driving evolutionary force.

Security and
Privacy
Relief Teachers only contains
data essential to the task of recruitment. The site is housed on a secure
web server using a Secure Socket Layering system. All access requires
user ID and PIN and school users can only access details relevant to their
school. Teachers can only access their own personal details.

How
it Works.
Relief teachers are
registered on the system, with each teacher nominating their preferred schools
and when they are available for work. If a teacher only wants to work part time,
they will only be visible in the system on the days of the week they nominate.
When schools, or agencies, log in using their unique ID and PIN, they access
the details of teachers who have nominated their school. Whenever a teacher
is booked for work, the system shows that that teacher is no longer available
for that period. In this way, the school's/agency's list of teachers shows an
up to the minute list of the teachers who are available for work.
